Helloooo! I realise this question may be slightly early since we're still all in the process of shuffling into the forums, but I thought it'd be interesting to ask anyway - are people interested in group text/voice chats?
If so, I've plonked the poll up there with several options (mostly ones that we've tried in the past) - below I'll give a wee explanation of each of them. You can vote on any number of options, and apparently re-cast your vote if you change your mind!

IRC
This was pretty much the lynchpin of instant chat back in the day for the forums, providing a stable and pretty much perpetual chat room for a long time. The old chat room was based in QuakeNet on #ccctown. However, IRC might be slightly outdated these days, even if you can get it on your phone/fire lasers from it.
MSN
MSN was used by us for a while for two main reasons:
1) You can draw on it (I still have loads of them saved )
2) You can send short voice recordings
Other than that there's nothing much else to say, it was fun but I'm not sure how many of us actually use MSN still.
Facebook
Facebook AKA what-many-people-spend-their-lives-on has limited chat functionality but might be good for convenience sake since they do offer a group chat option. I've not used it myself so I can't say whether it's good or not! We do actually have an old dusty Facebook group here: CCCTown Locals
Ventrilo/Teamspeak
Ventrilo was a gem when it was unearthed because we sat for hours on endscreaming entertaining eachother over the microphone. It's relatively stable which is always a plus, and allows you to record the entire conversation. The downside is that it's a pain to get set up because someone needs to host the server (from memory that seemed to be Miki mostly). The text chat was also pretty limited from what I remember, although it did have a pretty humorous text-to-speech option (motorboatttttt). I've thrown Teamspeak in there since some people may be more familiar with it (pretty much the same program).
Skype
I'm not sure we ever used this but Skype only keeps getting better and better these days. Easy to set up, no need to host, and great sound quality alongside a decent chat box. I believe Skype also allows you to install apps/mods such as interactive whiteboards. Personally this one has my vote!
SOMETHING ELSE
Have another suggestion? Think I'm crazy? Then fire away!

Let's see what you all think eh? I'd love to hear those beautiful voices again, and hear some new ones!
